Darrell Wendell Garrett, age 51, passed away Aug. 10, 2018, in California.
Darrell was born to Lucy and Daniel Garrett on Nov. 16, 1966, in Brooklyn, N.Y. To start his early childhood learning, he attended PS327 and Brooklyn Friends School.
Later moving to Rio Rancho, N.M., he attended Rio Rancho Elementary School, Taylor Middle School and graduated from Cibola High School. He loved sports, playing Little League baseball and high school baseball.
He loved to draw comic-book figures and design different buildings, which led him to become an architect, taking his degree at the University of California at Berkeley. Because of his love for math, he went on to become an engineer, earning his degree at San Jose State.
Darrell was a pleasant, well-liked person who seemed to bring happiness to whomever he meets. With a friend as a business partner, he opened his first engineering business and worked and traveled a lot, making many personal friends as well as business associates.
Darrell leaves behind his parents, Lucy and Darrell Garrett of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a son, Jordan Israaeel Garrett, the spitting image of him; a sister, Cathy Renee Garrett-Davis of Philadelphia, Pa.; a niece, Andrea Nicole Davis of Birmingham, London; his long-time school friend, Paul Rickert of Arizona; his business partner, Arthur and his family of California; and many, many cousins, other relatives and good-hearted friends and acquaintances.
Darrell is resting in peace with God and the angels. Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service was held in California on Aug. 25, 2018. A second memorial service will be held in Rio Rancho on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
Last, Daniels Family Funeral Services is officiating. Darrell’s final memories will be in the Vista Verde Mausoleum at 4310 Sara Road.
